Yeongdo Bridge

영도대교

Jung-gu, Busan · 부산

Korea’s only bascule bridge, opened in 1934, whose leaf is raised for fifteen minutes each afternoon — a ritual restored in 2013 after decades out of use.

Why it’s worth it

During the war this bridge was the agreed meeting point for separated families. Be on the Jagalchi side by 13:55 and watch it go up.
