Hama-rikyū Gardens

浜離宮恩賜庭園

Shiodome, Tokyo · 東京

The only surviving tidal garden in Tokyo — the pond rises and falls with Tokyo Bay — with a teahouse on an island reached by three wooden bridges.

Why it’s worth it

Take matcha and a sweet at the Nakajima teahouse and look past the pine trees at the Shiodome skyline. Then leave by boat up the Sumida to Asakusa.
