Ihwa Mural Village
이화벽화마을
Naksan, Seoul · 서울
A steep neighbourhood below Naksan Park where a 2006 public art project covered the walls and staircases in murals, drawing enough attention to slow redevelopment.
Why it’s worth it
It is a real neighbourhood of mostly elderly residents, and some murals were painted over by people who had had enough of the noise. Go quietly and early, and combine it with the city wall walk above.
