Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street

A short protected street of thatched and machiya houses at the top of Arashiyama, on the old approach to Atago Shrine, with a stone torii at the end.

Why it’s worth it

Almost nobody gets this far up the valley. Combine it with Otagi Nenbutsu-ji next door and you have an afternoon with no queues in it.
