Tomioka Hachimangū
富岡八幡宮
Monzen-nakacho, Tokyo · 東京
A large Edo-period shrine in the old east end, home to the stone monuments listing every yokozuna, and to an antiques market on the first and second Sundays.
Why it’s worth it
Professional sumo held its first sanctioned tournaments in this precinct. The yokozuna monument is still where new grand champions come to be recorded.
