Kiyosumi Garden
清澄庭園
Kiyosumi, Tokyo · 東京
A Meiji-era pond garden assembled by the founder of Mitsubishi, who shipped in prized rocks from across Japan. A line of stepping stones crosses the water at ankle height.
Why it’s worth it
The isowatari — the stepping-stone path over the pond — puts you level with the turtles. It costs almost nothing and takes forty unhurried minutes.
