Shinsekai & Tsūtenkaku
新世界・通天閣
Shinsekai, Osaka · 大阪
A district built as a world-fair showpiece and then largely left alone, now a grid of kushikatsu counters, standing bars and old game parlours beneath a steel tower.
Why it’s worth it
It is the least polished part of central Osaka and the most characterful. The kushikatsu rule is genuinely enforced: one dip in the shared sauce, never two.
