Shitennō-ji
四天王寺
Tennoji, Osaka · 大阪
Japan’s oldest officially administered temple, laid out in a straight line — gate, pagoda, main hall — in the original Korean-derived plan, rebuilt many times since.
Why it’s worth it
On the 21st and 22nd of each month a large flea market fills the grounds. The turtle pond in the west precinct is free and full of them.
