Tenjinbashisuji Shōtengai

天神橋筋商店街

Tenma, Osaka · 大阪

The longest shopping arcade in Japan, running six blocks north from Tenjinbashi — six hundred shops, almost none of them chains, and no daylight for most of it.

Why it’s worth it

Walking the whole thing takes about forty minutes and is the best cross-section of ordinary Osaka anywhere. Eat at whatever has a queue of pensioners.
