Ohatsu Tenjin Shrine

露天神社

Kita, Osaka · 大阪

A small shrine hidden in an alley of Umeda drinking dens, named after the heroine of Chikamatsu’s 1703 puppet play about two lovers who died here.

Why it’s worth it

It is now Osaka’s shrine for couples, wedged between izakaya and completely invisible from the main road. There is a flea market on Fridays.
