A wooden-clad bridge over the Katsura river, first built in the 9th century and named for an emperor’s remark that the moon appeared to walk across it.
Why it’s worth it
Walk to the south bank and look back — the bridge, the river and the whole forested hill in one frame. Best in the last hour of light.
