Jeondong Catholic Church
전동성당
Hanok Village, Jeonju · 전주
A Romanesque-Byzantine church built by a French priest on the ground where Korea’s first Catholic martyrs were executed in 1791, using bricks from the old city wall.
Why it’s worth it
It stands directly opposite Gyeonggijeon, so the dynastic shrine and the church face each other across one street. That juxtaposition is the whole of Jeonju.
